Family sponsorship

Canadian citizens and permanent residents who are at least 18 years old may be able to sponsor a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child. The sponsor signs an undertaking to support the sponsored person financially for a set period and must meet other eligibility requirements.

Common-law partners generally must have lived together continuously for at least 12 months. A dependent child is generally under 22 and not a spouse or common-law partner, with exceptions for some older children who depend on their parents because of a physical or mental condition.

The heart of a spousal application is proof that the relationship is genuine. We help you organize photographs, communications, joint documents and statements into a clear, credible package.

Canadian citizenship

To apply for citizenship, a permanent resident generally must have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days in the five years before applying, have filed taxes where required, and, if between 18 and 54, show language ability and pass a citizenship test. Some time spent in Canada before becoming a permanent resident may also count.

Accurate travel history is essential. We help you reconcile your records so the days you report are consistent and supported.

Working with an authorized representative

Only certain people may charge a fee to represent you on an immigration application, including lawyers licensed by a Canadian law society and licensed immigration consultants. As a member of the Law Society of Ontario, our lawyer is an authorized representative.

Processing times are set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and change often. We cannot control government timelines or decisions, but a complete application helps avoid unnecessary delay.
